Judging a book by it’s cover — The new normal

Last week I received shocking news. Something that changed my way of thinking and saying things.

I have this cousin who hasn’t always been nice to me and believes she has the right to tell people what to do and how they should. So since I’m a kid, I’ve judged her and always talked about her in a very bad way. I would always be laughing about her and saying how miserable she looks behind her back. Ugly right?

So on new year’s we went to the beach as a family and all of my cousins were there. She has two little kids, the girl tends to be a brat and the other one is just a baby so he doesn’t do much. Which seems weird. Everyday on the trip we criticized her by how she raises her kids and how she doesn’t even watch them when they went into the pool. She was on her phone all day. So we just whispered about her and she didn’t even cared about it because she didn’t even talked to us in all the vacation. For some, something was off.

Months later she gave a tough news to the family which involved her smallest child being diagnosed with some type of autism. This news was tough to all of us and everything made a little more sense now. I never thought that was the cause of somethings happening in her life.

We never know what is going on in a person’s life and we shouldn’t always have to be aware of it every time we meet someone. Instead, we should be nice and be there for people who are most close to us. What is the need of everyone having to say something bad about someone. That’s not fair because we don’t even know half of what there going through and I know this because life is tough and it isn’t always perfect.

I felt horrible when I got the news from my cousin, it wasn’t fair. I would’t like it for someone or a family member talking bad about me behind my back. So we shouldn’t do things we wouldn’t like to receive.

I write this from the bottom of my heart and I’m here to tell you that the world is so ugly we don’t need any more hate. We should spread love every day!

NEVER JUDGE, BE KIND, AND BE BETTER THAN THE THOUGHTS IN YOUR MIND.
